Snoopy
Hey everyone, We're still looking to host events for the server, we have a few suggestions that we're suggested already, but we'd love to hear more ideas! Previous suggestions: On 1/17/2023 at 11:47 AM, Rhys said: Boxing events are something I would like to see more of - or others where you can bet and gamble on people to win. When Van Horn held a boxing event to avoid the culling in Valentine, I found it very enjoyable. Spontaneous events where outlaws can target and intercept the transport of goods between towns - ones where you do not need to apply for but rather the events team just at anytime spawn a train or carts and transport a quantity of say gold bars, money or weapons with a security company like Stiles to protect them or lawmen - I think would be nice for the outlaws. Word of mouth spreads details of potential locations the transports happen (have the events team visit saloons for example, roleplay getting drunk and being loose tongued to spill details on when and where these transports will happen. ) On 1/17/2023 at 12:10 PM, Matteo said: Casino Boat party . Gambling, socialising.. all the good stuff. A prisoner convoy from New Austin to Sisika. This could give cavalry and lawmen something to protect, And perhaps, an outlaws a small reward from a hidden cache if they manage to rescue any of those prisoners alive or etc. On 1/17/2023 at 12:30 PM, K3V said: Aside from what has already been suggested I would also personally like to see some impactful things with the economy such as a longterm shortage of a certain item; perhaps like a week or two where its roleplayed that there is a shortage of iron or that the fields in certain areas have crop disease resulting in plants not being able to be planted there. I'd also like to see more gambling events as they were one of the main things of the time,i dont mean regular gambling that could happen in any town im talking about perhaps an events team casino in ST Denis so that high rollers could play aswell as your average joe. On 1/17/2023 at 1:10 PM, knppel said: 1. Large cattle drive from [Insert ranch here] to St Denis' slaughterhouses So large the ranch needs extra hands for the event from the outside, and bandits might have an easy time snatching stray cattle or rustling in a spread out trek and get away with it (or be caught). Finally (if successfully delivered at least in parts) a feast with plenty of free steak will be held in a local saloon or other fitting place while the cows march in the slaughterhouse to be canned by J Fass eventually. 2. Gambling As tempting as the boat might be I would suggest a different approach, in line with the economy: Start with developing a gambling scene focused on local areas (reach the customer where they are), and low stakes, opposed to high society. The reasoning behind this is fairly simple: It will allow much more people to participate than in a set that is very limited as it doesn't fit many characters to blow money on a casino boat. Not to mention the slight detail one also first hand needs this money to spend. Must-do for poker is a patch so the small blind can be set to 10 cent. Right now you must play with a dollar at least which is too much for friendly games in our economy for many characters. Which is a sad thing as unlike in gta the poker script itself is surprisingly rp friendly and pleasant to use. And every saloon MUST be given a poker table! If you watch any western and the protagonist enters a saloon that is filled, you have people playing poker at one table. 3. Elections In democratic settings, elections can be great roleplay plots- and on a meta-level, they typically serve better to introduce characters of the political scene to the public than held speeches, if there's actual ic campaigns upfront. Same as with many other things in roleplay it is even less so about the ultimate reward for the effort but the sake of roleplay itself, and elected positions do not necessarily have to hold any actual power or responsibility (I could well imagine a mayor of Valentine doing nothing but liaising between his civilians and bandits to try to haggle for more peace/share of the loot mostly while next by operating a gunstore or saloon because you need to live off something too and no one pays you for being a mayor). The big advantage opposed to simply establishing government bodies based on application or invitation is as mentioned that the characters get a proper introduction, are able to develop own networks, and longterm gain a lot of credibility if some people had a chance to vote their candidate and see them elected in office in character. What I'd probably suggest is the following: 1. Unprompted, the team should focus on small events that simply add life or flavour to the server. Particularly, things that don't take away from another group's potential roleplay (see: Train Robbery and the Stiles&Co argument). This way it's light hearted and drama free! Examples off the top of my head for his might be: Weather-related events & natural disasters (without any damage to player-owned things) One-off crimes that serve to give Law Enforcement some variety and force them to focus on things other than the outlaw factions. As an event this would give everyone involved a chance to enjoy more in-depth roleplay without worrying about the PvP aspects. A murder mystery? Kidnapping? High-Society crime to stimulate the courts / city law enforcement rp? Pop-up groups or oddities (things like a travelling circus appearing in town, or a peculiar group passing through a populated town) 2. Event Team Assistance Requests, which would be similar to things like the LFM one-time requests etc. This, I assume, would be the main source of most of the Team's work and would serve to allow players and factions to request Event Team help to realise an event that they want to run. The best events always come when they're involving pre-existing characters on the server, and the Events Team have the power to supplement this. Examples might be: A ranch requesting additional cows or script support for a larger cattle drive, perhaps along a route that might not normally be possible. Communities asking for assistance in running an event or festival for their town. Natives requesting support for a great hunt or festival of their own. 3. If the Events Team finds themselves stretched thin, consider 'hiring' players with a free second character slot as actors. This might sound silly to start with but apart from being massive nerds, roleplayers are also storytellers who enjoy bringing characters to life. Some might be content to stick to what they know, but others enjoy the challenge of portraying something new to them - and particularly with RDRP there's so much choice. If the Events Team had a list of players who were willing to create and portray temporary characters it would allow them a lot more flexibility when it came to running those events.
arano
The latest horse chase that @Snoopy has been running has been really cool. And it made me think how it could be quite cool for an admin or someone who runs events to take on the guise of one of the legendary animals, and harass a location, build up a reputation, and have a hunt party organised to go after. For reward and IC clout.
Gadget
As someone who RPs in New Austin, I believe an event like a group of Mexican cattle thieves or a native raid party from an off the map tribe would be some fun RP for the Rangers, USMS and even civilians. SkyeFuryy
[BUMP] LOOKING FOR IDEAS Hey guys! Bumping this topic, moving forward to are going to be putting more effort into providing the server with prompt and planned events. If you have any ideas you wish to see implemented, please let us know in this topic
okbuddy
A civil war re-enactment, there are enough battlegrounds around the Server to prevent culling but also the fact that people could "roleplay" while roleplaying being back in the battle. Great way to just let people shoot eachother, do some "Officer" type roleplay as well as it could run for 1-2 days to do a whole day-night cycle of roleplaying back and 'tending' to injuries.

PoisonedPaint
One that I've considered for the spooky October month or Halloween, if its even doable, is make some of the more 'folklore' such as the Native Wendigo stories, Pigmen in the swamps, etc. seem 'real'. (Bayou Boys/Swamp factions inclusions, native faction inclusions). I'm not really sure about other areas, but would be a great time to bring those kinds of things out/have a bit of fear of the believed supernatural for some characters.
